My three-year-old is starting ballet class, should he have a "split-sole" shoe?

My son is going to be starting ballet class, so I went online to order him shoes, but some of the children%26#039;s shoes have what they call a %26quot;split sole%26quot; and some do not. Which does he need? What is the purpose of the %26quot;split-sole%26quot; shoes?

Please don%26#039;t say, %26quot;ask the instructor,%26quot; because I can%26#039;t. She won%26#039;t be available to speak with until next Friday and I need to order the shoes now so they%26#039;re here in time. I tried asking other staff members at the facility, but they didn%26#039;t know anything about the dress code for the classes. Worse case senario, I get the wrong kind and have to order new ones and he wears the wrong shoes for a couple of weeks until the new ones arrive, but at least he%26#039;ll have something on his feet.

Get normal soled shoes... not the split sole. Split sole is for stuff like jazz dancers (a pad at the top and a pad at the heal), the regular soles are full even over the arch of the foot and a beginner needs that because it provides proper arch support
Reply:No you need to get single sole shoes... split sole is for advanced or older children. He needs a single sole.. no split sole..

The purpose of split soles are that they have soles on the heel and ball of your feet to be able to point your feet better and flexability...

The difference between single and split is that the sole on a single sole covers the whole bottom letting the person point their foot to a certain way.. which helps install NOT sickiling their foot... which is a bad thing..

So... for your three year old get single sole!
Reply:i wouldnt, generally u should just go with a normal full sole one. really u get split soled shoes for jazz or modern
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t.I didn%26#039;t get split sole until I was 9. They%26#039;re meant more for older kids and jazz.
Reply:No split-sole shoes are for people who are more advanced in ballet. I would start him out with a full-sole because it helps strengthen the foot. and then if her really likes ballet and he keeps dancing then first ask the instructor (not now but later if he really likes ballet) if he%26#039;s ready for split-sole.

Good Luck!

hope this helps!
Reply:At my dance studio, the dress code is split-sole ballet shoes. It really depends on your studio. I%26#039;m sure some of the other parents are wondering which type too.
Reply:For younger kids you should just get the normal kind. Thats what I wore when I was 3 years old and so did everyone else. Split sole shoes are more expensive (atleast where I used to shop) and their for more advanced dancers. I don%26#039;t think it would be a problem if you bought him the split sole but I would go with the normal kind:)
Reply:I would get your son normal sole shoes for ballet, split sole shoes are used more in contempary, jazz, modern, hip hop etc. Split sole shoes are more expensive anyway, so you would be saving that all important cash! Lol. if your son does want to join a class that would be more suited to split soles though, do not buy him them until you are both confident in that class, because you may find yourself buying a £70 pair of shoes that will never be used.

i hoped this helped.
Reply:I%26#039;m a ballerina and I love split sole. Get split sole, their easier to move in and they%26#039;re not as stiff. Full sole shoes aren%26#039;t as good and arches don%26#039;t look as good. Men primarily wear split sole too.

I am twenty-one years old and petite at 4'9. I need help finding fashionable shoes, etc..?

Everytime I go shoe shopping for pumps or heels, I have the hardest time! Usually I will fit into a size five women%26#039;s, but with heels, I%26#039;m having problems. They%26#039;re just a little too big and the only other size to go down to is a children%26#039;s! Does anyone know of a good store that sells petite shoe sizes that are also fashionable? I don%26#039;t want to look like a granny or a four year old. Also, finding jeans seems to be hard as well. I%26#039;m usually a size 1-2, give or take, but the legs are always too long. I%26#039;m getting frustrated, and I%26#039;m just curious if there%26#039;s any hope out there for us petite women of the world! Thanks!

I sympathize, but I also want to tell you one reason why you%26#039;re lucky: sale shoes and table samples are usually still available in your size when there%26#039;s absolutely nothing in larger sizes! :)

As for your problem, I know that Nordstrom does a great job of stocking a massive variety of sizes, and will special order things for you. They started out as a shoe store, so they have a better selection than most department stores. You might try ordering a shoe in a narrow size, or getting the heel or ball-of-foot inserts. I have to get those sometimes (I%26#039;m between sizes). My sister has an extremely narrow heel, so she has problems as well, and Nordstrom will give you all sorts of inserts free when you buy the shoes (if you ask for them and need them, of course!)

I think I%26#039;ve read that Zappo%26#039;s online shoe store has a massive array of sizes. I know I%26#039;ve seen people advise hard-to-fit shoe shoppers to go there, but I think there%26#039;s also another place I%26#039;m forgetting. (Sorry!)

And just in case you haven%26#039;t checked it out, if you%26#039;re ever looking for non-heel shoes, especially in summer, they actually have really cute stuff in the kid%26#039;s department. I was kind of bummed last year that they had an adorable pair of leather flip-flops that were only in the kid%26#039;s department. You also might find some low heels there. I had some beautiful shoes when I was about 10 or 11 that came from children%26#039;s shoe stores and were heels I%26#039;d wear now. If they were still in fashion, that is! :)

Good luck!
Reply:oK check out saks fifth ave. there great there sales people will help you find the exact heel your looking for and get the jeans while your there, there famous for there designer brands but there servise is always widely known :) saks.com check it out i love that store Report It

Reply:Nordstrom does have an online store, with a %26quot;huge selection of extended sizes and widths, 4-20, AAAA-EEEE%26quot; and search by size.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/23...

Also, several %26quot;small shoe sizes!%26quot; sites link straight to searches on Zappos, so they do have those smaller sizes. Report It

Reply:Oh, and thank you for the %26quot;best answer,%26quot; but I overlooked your jeans issue! Teen %26amp; juniors departments are so adult these days I%26#039;d think you could definitely find the same styles as in MIsses. And often at MUCH better prices! ;) Many stores will also hem for you; ask! Report It

Reply:that is the problem of my sister too, but don%26#039;t worry i know that there will be a lot of beautifull shoes that will fit you...
Reply:My shoe size isnt that small but my jeans are...i was having the same problem with finding jeans that than i asked yahoo answers and somone told me to go to Charlotte Russe. (i didnt belive it) but i went there and the jeans were actualy on sale and they fit! and that NEVER happends to me so you may want to try them out GOOD LUCK with your shoes though, thats gotta be hard
Reply:HELLO!!!!! yes.... im like 5%26#039;3%26quot; and thats probably all thats going to happen. lol ...i find that nordstroms actually has some good heels, also if u dont mind the prices, saks fifth avenue has some high-quality-fit-well shoes....lol..... i tend not to go there so much, just because my bank account isnt *that* fat. haha, but as for the jeans, i would say get them tailored....usually the places will make them look as fashionable as when u first had them, just shorter, so they actually fit!! i hate it when my jeans always get so ripped and ratty at the ends!!!!!

also, the store %26quot;two lips%26quot; is a shoe store that has some nice heels, not that much $$$!!!! yay!! lol good luck!!!

MOMMIES HELP!!! Kids Shoe Question?

You know how a mens shoe size is different than a the same size in womens shoe?

Is that the same for children%26#039;s shoes?

MOMMIES HELP!!! Kids Shoe Question?
Nope boys and girls wear the same size. A 2 is a 2 whether they are pink or blue.
Reply:No, children%26#039;s shoes are the same size regardless if it%26#039;s for a boy or a girl.
Reply:Definitely its different. It depending on their age and size of their feet.Children feet r still growing tat is y it is important to get for them a gd pair of shoes and sandal tat are rigid so tat it prevent them to get feet problems.
Reply:no. it is the same when it comes to kids shoes whether you are boys or girls
Reply:Not in the UK - the fitter uses the exact same measuring device.

But if you are buying non-fitted shoes, single width girls shoes are often narrower than boys shoes.
Reply:No kids shoes are the same
Reply:I found this on wikepedia under US and Canada shoe sizing:

%26quot;Children%26#039;s sizes are equal to men%26#039;s sizes plus 12.33. Thus girls%26#039; and boys%26#039; sizes do not differ, even though men%26#039;s and women%26#039;s do.

child shoe size = 3 * last length − 9.67%26quot;
Reply:kids shoes are the same as adults. male and female footwear may have the same numeric size but actually will be larger or smaller depending on the gender they are made for.

books title c

I'm looking for the title of a children's book about a girl who breaks her new shoe when she uses it in a game

The little girl was Asian, and the game was a fortune-telling game. The book is probably from the late seventies to mid-eighties.

%26quot;Pair of Red Clogs%26quot;

by Masako Matsuno, Kazue Mizumura

For Mako, a little Japanese girl, the new shoes were clogs painted with red lacquer that shone beautifully. This is the story of what happened after she cracked the new clogs playing the weather-telling game and so longed for a bright, shiny new pair to replace them that she almost did a dishonest thing.

Where can I get some cool shoes?

I shop at the Children%26#039;s Place, and Gymboree. Sometimes even the gap outlet (but it%26#039;s a little bit too expensive!). I need some fabulous shoes. Try to stay under my budget ($15)

Where can I get some cool shoes?
I love shopping for my shoes at Payless because you can go in with $20 bucks and come out with three pairs of super-cute shoes! They also have great lookalikes from the more expensive, designer brands. You should also try shopping at places like Target (though you might need to wait for the shoes to go on sale, they aren%26#039;t cheap-looking and are super cute) or Wal-Mart. I hope this helps!
