Is it bad for your feet if you wear someone's old shoes?

My husband%26#039;s mother says that wearing handme-down shoes can be harmful to a child%26#039;s foot development. Is there any evidence to back this up?

I wear used shoes and so do all of my children. We have never had any problems. As long as the shoes haven%26#039;t shown signs of wear and tear-- I think its perfectly fine. Small children out grow their shoes before they wear out, most of the time.
Reply:yep, it%26#039;s suited to how they walk so u could end up with a crooked spine, u need new shoes always
Reply:NOT THAT I KNO OF..I KNO U CAN GET ATHLETES FOOT FROM IT .....I THINK...WELL WAIT DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT LOL
Reply:well i think it all depends on if you don%26#039;t know who wore the shoe%26#039;s i mean if its someone in the baby%26#039;s family than no unless they have a foot problem or something.. than maybe you should worry but if its a strangers i mean i wouldn%26#039;t let the baby wear them cause i heard that to.
Reply:yes it can be bad from what i have been told by docters
Reply:only if the shoes had a disease in them
Reply:could be...the shoe would have taken the shape (if it is broke in) of the previous owner. Everyone has a unique foot shape..kind of like fingerprints
Reply:depending on how worn out they are. old shoes have already molded to the other child%26#039;s feet and the arches my be worn down so its a good possibility that you mother in law is right, sorry.....:)
Reply:i think its not advisable.. there are a lot of skin diseases out there!
